What is Opsin?

Opsin Biotherapeutics Inc, Opsin Bio for short, is a joint venture between DesignPlex Biomedical and Nanoscope Technologies. The goal of Opsin Bio is to bring new and innovative optogenetic neuromodulation treatments for chronic pain to help bring an end to the opioid epidemic. 

What is the Product?

An opsin is a protein that is activated by the action of light. Opsin Bio uses a revolutionary new method to mitigate pain. By using a Multi Characteristic Opsin (MCO) and targeting a specific area of the brain, we hypothesize that we can "turn off" pain at the source.
